What makes name-based wall art actually personal
The question worth asking about any personalized product is: what, exactly, is personalized about it? For most name art, the answer is the text. Your name appears in a font chosen by a designer. The background, the colors, the composition, all of it exists independently of who you are. Your name is inserted into a template.
Name-derived color art works differently. The color itself is computed from the letters in your name. Change one letter and the color changes. Nobody chose the color. The math chose it. That is a fundamentally different kind of personalization, and it is why the finished piece tends to surprise people when they see it.
The specific formula used at STILL Studio assigns each letter a value (A=1 through Z=26), sums the values in each name, then passes that total through the golden angle, 137.508 degrees. The result is an RGB color. Your first name determines the Red channel. Your middle name determines Green. Your last name determines Blue. Three names, three channels, one color that belongs to you mathematically.
How the golden angle converts names to colors
The golden angle (137.508 degrees) is the angle between successive leaves on a stem, seeds in a sunflower head, or scales on a pinecone. Plants evolved toward it because it minimizes overlap and maximizes surface area exposed to sunlight. The same property that makes it useful in nature makes it useful for generating colors: small changes in input produce large, visually distinct changes in output. No two names land on the same color. Near-identical names land in very different parts of the color space.
Take two names: EMMA and EMMY. Emma sums to 33 (E=5, M=13, M=13, A=1, with two M values). Emmy sums to 45. Run those through the golden angle and they land in different parts of the spectrum entirely. The visual difference is immediate. That is the formula working as intended.
For a family of four, each person gets their own color. The four colors together form a palette that could not have come from any other combination of names. That palette is what the AI uses to paint.
What the finished piece looks like
After entering your family's names, you choose an artist style: Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso, Dalí, Pollock, Kahlo, Kandinsky, Basquiat, Hokusai, or O'Keeffe. The AI generates four previews in that style using only your family's colors. Nothing else. No stock colors, no adjustments for aesthetics, no background fills from a separate palette. The painting is built from your names.
If your family's palette skews deep green and dusty blue, the Van Gogh version will be a night-tone painting with swirling blues and deep foliage. If your palette hits warm ochres and burnt orange, the Monet version will read as a late-afternoon light study. The style sets the structure. The names set the color.
You pick one of the four previews. That version is yours. Because the AI generates naturally with variation, even if another family entered the same names, their four previews would look different from yours.

Frequently asked questions
Will my family's color palette be unique?
The formula is deterministic, so the same names always produce the same colors. But the combination of your specific family members' names is almost certainly unique. And the AI painting itself generates fresh each time, so even matching palettes would produce different final pieces.
What if someone doesn't have a middle name?
The middle name field is optional. If left blank, the tool uses only first and last name for the color calculation. The resulting piece will use a two-color palette for that person rather than three.
Can I include pets or extended family?
Yes. You can add any number of names. Each one contributes its own color to the palette. A family of six will have a richer palette than a family of two.
